The bottom line is that bleach does NOT kill mold or mildew. It may kill the visible mold, but the chemical ingredients in the bleach do NOT penetrate into porous surfaces to kill mold roots. Ironically, only the water in the bleach will penetrate into porous surfaces, which actually helps the mold roots and spores to grow since they need water to grow.
